2005 Metro Denver
Volunteer-a-thon
The Community Buzz is currently planning the 2005 Metro Denver
Volunteer-a-thon. After last year’s wonderful success in Boulder County, we
are expanding the Volunteer-a-thon to include the entire Metro Denver area!
The 1st annual Metro Denver Volunteer-a-thon will take place during National
Volunteer Week, April 17th-23rd 2005. This year our goal is 500,000
hours!
2004 Boulder County
Volunteer-a-thon
In April 2004, the Community Buzz held the Volunteer-a-thon in Boulder
County with a population of approximately 250,000. This 4 hour live
production raised over 50,000 hours and featured 20 different non-profit
groups across 16 different categories. Over a dozen different companies
provided monetary or in-kind contributions to the event. The Boulder County
Volunteer-a-thon won an award for “Best Collaborative Civic Project” from
the Community Foundation Serving Boulder County and was a finalist for an
“IQ” award from the Boulder County Business Report.
X-Travel television series
X-Travel profiles the exploding business of extreme, volunteer-based travel.
The show is a reality-based travel series that explores the world in search
of the most remote, exciting, and heart-rending volunteer travel
experiences. It follows everyday people as they put themselves in a wildly
different culture. We are voyeurs to their journeys as they experience
different languages, foods, and customs. We root for them, we are
embarrassed for them. We share their learning and their realization that
they feel a part of something bigger than themselves. They have entered a
world vastly different from the one they know.
